Captain of India Virat Kohli said the thwarting defeat in Pune will not let them down, when they grab Australia in the 2nd Test in Bengaluru on Saturday. On a strong turner in Pune, Australia back out India by 333 runs within 3days.
Whatsoever, the failure in Pune shocked the fans who expected world No.1 Test side to flatten the visitors? The Indian captain tag loss in Pune as “hurting” but said that sometimes “defeats were necessary”.
Steven Smith twisted the temperature on India on the eve of the 2nd Test in Bengaluru, announcing Australia is just – “one or two sessions” away from maintaining the Border-Gavaskar trophy. Smith said that –I think they will feel under a little bit of pressure. But Kohli just brush off the suggestion that India would be feeling under pressure when he learned of Smith’s comments.
After starting the series as victim and given little chance of drawing, let alone winning the match, Australia would take an unquestionable lead in the four-Test series if they win at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, a ground at which Australia has a good record of 2 wins, 2 draws and just one loss.
Kohli said that he is confident that his team will jump back in Bangluru after the distressing defeat in Pune – We have the belief that we can win this series. I can assure you that everyone is taking this as a massive challenge and everyone is raring to turn things around in this series and play that kind of cricket we all know that we can play and not take a backward step at any stage – these words were spoken by Virat in pre match conference.
He also said that, sometimes these defeats are necessary. It’s very rare that whole team fails to contribute. Pune was one disappointment because the way we played, not that we lost but the way we lost. When you don’t have enough plan and you lose the game, that’s when it hurts you.
Virat also stated by his words that – The defeat gives you an opportunity to appreciate what the things we need to work on. Sometimes when you win, you don’t focus on the whole thing because somebody or the other ways up. Well, that’s always a good sign. But we cannot afford anything for fixed at any stage. It was not to set back – these things are also important in your Test match journey.
Kohli also defended the 27– year – old all rounder Jayant Yadav, who was unsuccessful to perform well in Pune. He at least managed to pick two wickets on a turning track and scored only 7 runs in that match.
Indian captain said about Jayant Yadav that – He has been outstanding player. He has been very intelligent and brilliant, but all of us go through the drudge. The Test in Pune wasn’t his best game; I won’t be judging him by that as he played too little. Jayant knows how to turn things around and will get back into the zone again.
Well, lose at Pune was really upsetting to all Indians, but everyone is hoping for the best from Indian players in next Test, will held in Bangluru.
