We all know that it was not easy for India to get free from British Rule, it took years of efforts by our Freedom fighters to get the Freedom. Many great freedom fighters had sacrificed their lives in getting the independence from Britishers for their future generations without caring about their rest, and comfort.

After the sacrifice and struggle of these great peoples, India got freedom from the British rule on 15th August 1947 and therefore we celebrate our Indian Independence Day on 15th August. This year, India will celebrate its 71st Independence day to remember and to give tribute to all Indian Freedom fighters who had contributed much to free India from British Rule.

As tomorrow we will celebrate our 71st Independence day, I thought of showing you something different and interesting regarding Indian Independence day.  

So, let’s take a look below to the interesting and unknown facts of Indian independence:

#1-Indian national Flag was first hoisted on August 7, 1906, in Calcutta. The flag was made of level segments of red, yellow and green.

#2-When India became Independent,  we did not have our National Anthem.

#3-The name of our country ‘India’ is derived from the word Indus; it’s a name of a valley. The reason behind India also called as Bharat is that India’s Sanskrit name is Bharat Ganrajya.

#4-A day before his Death, Mahatma Gandhi requested to dissolve the congress party after Independence.

#5-First cabinet of India has taken an oath on 15th August 1947.

#6-In 1947, Indian 1 rupee was equal to 1 dollar

#7-At the time of independence of India, gold price was 88.62 Rs/10 grams however now, it is 28,795 Rs/10 grams.

#8-When India got its freedom, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru became the first Prime Minister and also the first Indian hoisted a National flag.

#9-Officially, the Indian independence day was celebrated first at Red Fort, Delhi.

#10-Countries like South Korea, Bahrain and Congo also celebrate 15th August as their Independence day because they also got Freedom from the respective countries.

#11– For getting Freedom our fighters started several movements in which ‘Quit Indian Movement’ began to spread the nonviolent struggle across the India.

#12-Another Movement ‘Dandi March’ was started by Gandhi Ji for creating own salt against The British Raj.

#13-Ashfaqulla, great Indian freedom fighter kissed noose before getting hanged

#14– Bhagat Singh, the legend freedom fighter was arrested and hung because he threw a bomb during British government meeting

#15-India has not attacked any other country in the last 100000 years. Thus India considers as a peace-maker country.

#16– Bhagat Singh was fluent in various languages like Swedish. French, Arabic, English, Hindi, not only this he was also a Voracious reader.-An Inspiring soul of India

#17– Rani Laxmi Bai fought like a tigress for Indian independence against British Rule

#18– First Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was known as a style icon globally.

#19– Pingali Venkayya made the official flag of India.

#20– Official Indian flag manufactured in ‘Khadi Cloth’ and by law, the only material to be used for making flag is ‘khadi’.
